Fuji Furukawa E&C and mign Launch Proof-of-Concept Trial on Using ChatGPT in Facility Installation Work

By applying ChatGPT's language model to research and communication tasks in facility installation work, the companies aim to reduce labor costs

In April 2023, mign Inc. (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masahiro Taima) will launch a proof-of-concept trial with Fuji Furukawa E&C Co., Ltd. (Kawasaki, Kanagawa; President and CEO: Takashi Kusaka) on the use of ChatGPT in facility installation work. The goal is to reduce labor costs by applying ChatGPT’s language model to the research and communication tasks involved in facility installation projects.

■ Overview of the Proof-of-Concept Trial

Facility installation work calls for extensive research into legal regulations, the properties of materials and equipment, construction methods, and much more, along with frequent back-and-forth with government authorities and outside specialists—all of which consumes considerable time and labor cost. In this trial, mign will adapt and customize chact, its construction-industry-specific conversational AI model built on ChatGPT, to deploy a system that lets on-site facility installation staff ask questions by email at any time. The aim is to cut labor costs while raising the quality of service. The system can automatically reply to submitted questions within roughly one to several minutes.
